Is routine foot care covered by insurance?

Routine foot care provided by a registered nurse is not covered by insurance. All services are private pay and require out-of-pocket payment. While we do not bill insurance, a receipt can be emailed upon request for your personal records or for submission to your insurance provider at your discretion.

What forms of payment are accepted?

We currently accept cash, check, credit card, Venmo, and HSA payments. Payment is due at the time of service. At this time, we do not offer invoicing.

What is your Cancellation Policy?

We understand that life can be unpredictable. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please notify us as soon as possible. A 24-hour no-show or late cancellation policy is in effect and may result in a fee.

What can I expect during my visit?

Accepted Answer

An initial visit may last up to one hour and includes:
Health history and medication review
Comprehensive lower-extremity, foot, and skin assessment
Fall-risk considerations
Evidence-based routine foot care
Care is provided following best practices recommended by professional nursing organizations and may include:
Toenail trimming and thinning
Management of fungal nails
Ingrown toenail care
Callus and corn reduction
Foot health education
Routine foot care is typically recommended every 6–8 weeks.

How are you different from a podiatrist?

Accepted Answer

Podiatrists diagnose and treat medical conditions of the foot and ankle and may perform routine foot care as part of an overall visit. Some podiatrists bill insurance, while others charge privately.
The Sole Nurse does not replace podiatric care. Our services focus on providing skilled routine foot care in the home or clinic setting—especially when self-care or caregiver care is no longer safe or feasible.
You may continue to see a podiatrist and utilize our services.
The Sole Nurse does not diagnose conditions, perform surgery, or prescribe medications. We collaborate with podiatrists, primary care providers, and other healthcare professionals to advocate for your overall foot health.

How are you different from a pedicure?

Pedicures are cosmetic services intended for relaxation and appearance. Aging and conditions such as diabetes or peripheral vascular disease can cause significant changes to the skin and nails, increasing the risk of infection. These individuals often require skilled, clinical foot care rather than cosmetic services.

Do you soak feet or apply nail polish?

Accepted Answer

No. Best practice guidelines do not support soaking feet, as prolonged soaking can increase infection risk and over-soften vulnerable skin. Our care is clinical—not cosmetic—so nail polish is not applied.

Do you trim fingernails?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Fingernail trimming and filing are available for an additional fee. Please let us know at the time of scheduling if you would like to add this service.

Question 11

How are your tools cleaned?

Accepted Answer

All tools are either single-use disposable or cold-sterilized and individually packaged according to CDC guidelines. Each client receives their own set of tools for every visit.

Do you carry liability insurance?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Sole Nurse is a licensed LLC and carries comprehensive professional liability insurance.
